Maafilaafushi (Dhivehi: މާފިލާފުށި) is one of the inhabited islands of Lhaviyani Atoll in the Maldives. Millions of years ago, a great range of volcanoes rose from the floor of the Indian Ocean and burst through its surface. Slowly over the years, the volcanoes sank back into the depths, leaving only the coral reef surrounding Maafilaafushi and its adjacent uninhabited islands. Revered as a sanctuary for those who seek tranquility, Maafilaafushi is more than meets the eye, with three uninhabited island surrounding the main island remains a mystery even to this day. It's rumored that the hit American TV show 'LOST' was inspired by events that had taken place on these islands.
